Leave it alone mate. The 1L are built to rev. Thats what they do, and they do it WELL!

IMO a 1.3L and 5sp swap is pointless. The power gain is just not worth the effort. Look at a 1.6 EFI vitara swap or leave it be. You'll be suprised how far the standard 1L will get you.

Just curious but do the 1L engines really have no camshaft bearings? Pretty sure my pop may have mentioned that.

They don't, but then again, neither does the 1.3!

No bearing. They run in the head, so its a good idea to change oil regularly

Hi Treemonkey,

I own 2 Marutis both 91 a NT and WT.

If you want to keep the engine, you can get yourself a sierra 5 speed box pull it apart take out the gears and put then into your Maruti 4 speed gearbox.

That way it wont scream so much on the freeway. Adding extractors will give you some more power with a snorkel.

Other then that rip out the 1ltr and throw in the vit engine.

Im putting one in mine atm with a 4 speed auto box with Maruti 1ltr transfer with rock hoppers.
