i am currently running the standard Z172 filter on my 91 sierra but am going to install an oil filter sandwich plate so i can run some gauges

my question is since the plate is a little under 1in thick i'm going to need to run a smaller filter as it will more than likely hit the engine mount

i've read a Z418 filter has the same thread and is smaller but are there any complications with running a smaller filter?

i run z418 on mine no worries at all and have been for about 8 years now.

cool good news do you run a sandwich plate or is there another reason you run the smaller filter?

I run the 418 on my vit, its the standard fitment on a baleno, and so much easier to get a hold of.

i was running the 1.3 which had no need for it really, was just easier to get at the time i think... now running 1.6 its standard fitment on that so yeah.

i think from memory the z418 is used in newer model suzuki's for clearance reason (if not i know there is a squatter shaped filter that is listed as compatible for late model suzuki's ) If you change your oil regularly it shouldn't be an issue

Have you checked to see if the z172 actually hits? Just unscrew your existing one and test fit. a v8 Z9 filter fits and its freakin huge.

yeah i am just waiting for my sandwich plate to turn up then i can trial fit but if the 418 is used without an issue i'll just run the smaller filter

ryco z125 fits, and is pretty small.
howd you go with your fuel drama?

yeah seems to have sorted itself out but i honestly think it picked up some shit from the fuel tank and was a small blockage

ran it last night for a while without a drama

Most late model Toyota's with a screw on filter run the 418, Hilux, Hiace, Camry, etc

You can but t-adapters that screw into the oil pressure switch port on the block.

what i have is an electronic oil temp gauge with sender so im trying to figure out the best way to fit the sender - so far i can only find these sandwich plates?
