I have heard you can remove dents from fuel tanks using compressed air but I am not sure how? Could someone enlighten me as to how it is done?

Easy, remove fuel cap and fuel filter. Make sure the tank is empty first by pressurizing the tank through the inlet and catching fuel underneath by a fuel safe container.
Once the tank is empty, block the fuel outlet with a screw and a hoseclamp.
Now pressurize the tank with your compressor until you start hearing donk, donk! Dents are popped out and life is good.

I used a blower nozzle on my compressor and wrapped the head in a rag to seal when in the fuel inlet. I used a rag to eliminate the chance of over pressurizing the tank and doing damage.

but be carefull its easy to over pressurise the tank and blow the seams.
I'd use a regulator and just keep upping it slowly so you dont endup trying to blow it out at 120 psi

How much pressure will it take to pop the dents out roughly? And can I do it with the same compressor I use for pumping up tyres after wheeling?

yes you can if you can seal it well enough.
30 psi should be shit loads for most dents, I bet most will pop at less than 20 psi

Use patience and a steady trigger finger if a regulator is not fitted.

I filled my tank with water, then pressurised the tank with air. Worked really well...

If we're still talking about a fuel tank, he probably won't even need the start ya bastard!

Don't do it that way though, it would end in tears!

Less air, More weight on the dents.

Just air would do the same. I should try it gradually on the coily tank i have here

If it blows up it blows up, Dont really care, been sitting here for years

I heard it somewhere... but it works... i turned a totally stuffed tank into tank that could hold more than 40L. Once you fix your tank, get a bash guard for sure... There's only so many times you can pop the dents out before you wreck the tank.

I do have a tank guard... But I broke it Will be going back on once dents are removed.
