hiya guys. i got a steering box out of a wrecked sierra with no play in it. so thats better than my box with 2 1/2 inches of play in it.
getting it out of the wrecked sierra was a bastard, but because u tend 2 not give a stuff about anything, apart from the thing u want, its ok.
problem is. i cant disconnect the steering box arm, from the steering arm that connects to the left hand wheel.
i have removed the pin, and loosened the bolt to the top of the thread, then hit it from above. sprayed the crap out of it with rp7, but still cant get it off.
anyone got any advice on how to get it off? its the 1 thing stopping me from finishing the job. and im starting to get annoyed with it..

Go to supercheap and buy a ball-joint separator. You will have it off in 30 seconds

hitting the side causes a shock load through the taper shaft
this causes it to drop off. But with a piarm they can be very tight. Sometimes you will need a pitman arm puller to remove it.
nobcad for those less technical

swing the hammer harder, like really hard like you are trying to break it
you wont hurt anything even if you miss and smack the chassis a few times

na i'v given up. when u have hit it that many times, sprayed it with WD40, left it overnight & smacked the shit out of it some more, & u got nowhere & have spent hours on it, its time 2 give up. so its going 2 the mechanic tuesday/wednesday. & hopefully when i get it back, i'll b able 2 go in a relatively straight line..

keep using wd 40 for a few days, it won't happen over night but it will over a few if you keep soaking it.
