Been meaning to ask for ages - what's this box thing (in the passenger footwell)? I can't work out what it's supposed to do

It's the modulator that controls the eddy current diffuser

Im led to believe its an ECM (emissions control)
I discovered mine was full of water and yet the car still ran fine
I still replaced it with a non water logged unit tho.

Yeah its for emissions control, pretty sure it controls EGR maybe even timing advance and idle soleniod, but not to sure on that.

I an pretty sure it is the ac module..

Didnt see one in my sierra or any of my mates sierras.. And none of them had air con.

Interesting - any idea why the AC module needs such a complex loom? Just wondering

Might try get it up and running, better not knock it off just yet

There will be a few things that run into it.. Pressure switch, power, earth, ac switch, temp sensor ... plus a few outputs

I thought it was the ac box but i think it does the 7volts for the temp and fuel

I was told they were aircon controls, but tell your passengers its part of the impact sensor and ignition unit for the ejector seats propulsion charges.

sounds way cooler than plain old aircon wiring

I had this box in my last sierra on the passenger side behind the glove box it said emission control on the box.
Does yours have any writing on it

Got stuck in a bog hole with water/mud/poo up to the windscreen. Couple of days later, I couldn't figure out why the a/c compressor clutch wasn't engaging......

OK, it's definitely an AC box going off the schematic below - the bit on the right looks exactly like the loom connector. The AC is a bit glitchy, so time to troubleshoot. On this AC box - do I need to know what the number/letter combos are on the schematic or can I just follow the route?

The bits in purple - you reckon I can run AC without the idle up (disconnected), fresh off (recirc only on my heater), and maybe even the e/g ecu (not sure if this means 'engine' or 'emission' something-or-other)?

Overkill, I know. But the zook is here to stay so I might as well get it right so I can forget about it for as long as possible
