what does every one recomend a front locker or a rear locker or both ?

well it is a 95 sierra wt soft top on leaf springs atm i dont have much and i was looking at getting the cheap ones of ebay i was thinking just a front air locker but i m not sure

if you new to 4wding, a locker is the last thing you need.

You would be amazed at how far a Sierra with a bit of suspension work and decent tyres will go

Especially with a capable driver.

learn to drive your car first, an unlocked sierra will go so many places if you know what lines to drive, once you've explored the limits in an unlocked car, maybe then start thinking about lockers.

Hey chrisnice meeting you today. As for the lockers you will be surprise how far a stoker goes. The one we had today went pretty far. I'm with the other drive you car how it is for a while and see what it can do and can't.

Spool locks your diff constanltly. Its probs not what you want.
If you have money just start of with a auto in the rear then air in the front.
But I would drive your car until you find it's limit.

As for today. Lockers didn't really help in sloppy mud or clay. Momentum and the right line is the key

yeah thanks and it was good but i would of love to gorn on but just didnt want to brake anything on my car as i was the only on that was pretty much stock comparied to the others i have to get a lift next and a winch

A locker will get you into trouble a winch gets you out of trouble.

Drove unlocked for 18 months before I got a rear auto lokka. It puts you into situations a lot quicker than open diffs.
Eg. Open diffs act as a bit of a fuse and tell you hey this ain't the best line as you're crossed up. Go back and pick a better line. Think wheel placement to keep the front level. It may take half a dozen goes but you learn lines.

Locked diffs on steep climbs loads up the rear wheels regardless of line and can drive you up and over. If you don't know this point from driving unlocked serious injury and expense can be the result.

Add a front locker and zukes just keep going.

Lockers however can make less impact on tracks as they sometimes prevent excessive wheel spin.

I have not yet comquered Little Red at Glasshouse locked but have driven it unlocked due to good instruction and line. (and a little luck)

I have recently added a front air locker and now feel I should have installed a cage/roll bar for added safety first.

My suggestion would be.
Tyres, gears, lift, winch, rollbar/cage, rear locker then front. JMO.

The best thing when first starting is wheel with someone with experience and patience. I owe a lot to Want33s for my early days of wheeling showed me what an opened diffed SWB Sierra can do just by line selection and correct momentum.

x2. Going from opens to rear locked was a big/scary difference, if i didnt know how to drive and just jumped in a locked zook i'd flip it definitely.

Then going from rear locker to twin locked with reduction gears was insane, it just keeps driving
