I have got the instrument cluster out of the zook at the moment and while i've got it out I want to hook up the check engine light. Is the output from the ECU 12v or ground?

EDIT: actually if it's a voltage output it's more likely to be 5v

Since this is sort of related

What have people done with the check engine light when putting the G16B setup into NT/1L sierra since they dont originally have an engine light in the dash cluster? I still havent hooked one up yet.

Also can I fit the VSS from the G16B into a NT sierra speedo? I know it can be done into a WT but just wondering if it's as simple in a NT speedo. Another thing I havent hooked up yet

Cheers

cut and glue the check light film from a vit cluster into a spare light hole on the narrow track dash. yes you can hook up a vss as per a wt in your cluster. done this to many a maruti.
