great for mud. shite for rocks.
silverstones extreme117, same pattern as simex centipedes but cheaper, wear is reasonable, like most muddies on bituman.
but tyres wont make up for shit driving still.

Both me and my mate Oddjob run the Silverstones.
They DON'T bag like a regular muddy does. We had his set at 1psi all round and still no sidewall baggage.
I would recommend steering away from them on road as much as possible. Incredibly noisy, they wear fast, hard to turn with the 1.3 and lack any sense of on road manners.
That said, they're hard to go past in the mud.

.
ya let tyres down so ya get a longer contact patch not a wider one
the back tyre has 7psi in it and i reckon the contact patch would be close to 20% of the total tread area.

just becasue you cant really see the side wall bag does not mean they are not working, they are bias ply and the side wall makeup is totally different to a radial.
its all about foot print lenght not width and how the tyre conforms to its terrain

i wouldnt bother with them... i had them in 31" on my sierra and they were just scary... they absolutely SHINE in mud, but only enough that what i could crawl in 1st low someone with BFG KM2 could get through in second low with some revvs... on rocks, shale, sand and side slopes they suck ass and slip all over the place, usually putting you sideways on the hill being held onto the seat by your puckered bum hole.

Silverstones are the best agressive mud there is for a sierra. I outdrove several better equipped sierras with my silverstones in the mud. They just chew their way through the slop alot better than some other agressive muds.
Shit in the snow
Average on gravel and rock
Ordinary on the HWY but so are most smodded sierra's

Blah blah blah. I can sit on 100kmph all day everyday with my "goodride" muddies but struggle to keep 90 with the silverstones.
Gearing is good, but it's so noticeable how different they are to turn.

I'll 2nd this
Ive seen jas's old sierra drive some really shit slick massive red clay hills easily with silverstones and just a locked rear, mind you the 6-7K revs it was pulling might have helped clear the tyres out.
he still drives like a bitch though

Surely you do more than just drive on the freeway?
On standard gearing I did 130 with 31's. But it was a dog to drive anywhere else.

I have had a fair bit of success out of my 32" Simex Pedes in the local rock comps. Below is a pic of the sidewall flex of a Pede at 5 psi, they flexed over the terrain well enough for me. Havent had any experience with the Silverstones.

Are you sure thats 5 it looks so low! Without beadlocks tho youll bust em off the rim all the time if you run them that low. I run mine at about 10 without beadlocks and thats about as low as id wanna go, i pop one off the rim usually every second drive or so.

i ran my simex at 6psi with no beadlocks... they were 31x10.5 on a 15x7 rim and never broke the bead. i did however have to run tubes cos they were big fans of getting shit in the bead and developing a slow leak.

X 2 except the running tubes part, never lost a tyre at 5 psi without beadlocks but did tend to get shit in the bead. Plus in that pic the drivers side rear is ramped so the majority of the cars wieght is on the passenger side front and pushing it over, however it does show that the sidewall on them is plenty soft enough

Yh thats my problem, i always get shit in the bead so its not really the pressure but the slow leak that you only realise once its too late.
Bit of a hijack but can u get some sort of guard to stop this or are beadlocks the go?

With mine being a trailer queen it means slow leaks werent really an issue so long as they held up for the few days I was wheeling. There was only one comp were I had to break the bead and clean it out on the side of the track, but we were doing alot high speed loose gravel/rock tracks.
Beadlocks would be your best bet to stop it completely.
