Do decent extractors on a 1.0L improve performance?

I've got a hole in my exhaust and its starting to backfire when under engine/compression breaking...

Has anyone fitted a set of extracts to their 1.0L and noticed a performance gain or found it worthwhile? If so, what brand (or ebay seller) did you use?

Are exhausts pretty generic in that I can goto any exhaust place and ask them to chuck another on for me?

the gain is marginal when compared with putting a full 2" exhaust system on your car. if u put a set of extractors on after fitting a 2" system then u wont notice any difference other than the sound

well sound i want to keep to a minimum... it wont be for sounds, only performance.

alrighty so for the new exhaust a 2" system is worth looking into. cheers rocky.

2" is a little big for a 1 litre isn't it?

I'd suggest 1 & 3/4" maximum. I barely noticed much gain when I added mine to my 1.3. Might be easier to find extractors than a manifold tho

IMO 2" is too big for 1L. Go for 1.75" and a good multi chambered muffler.

Even though some say there is marginal improvement, usually 2 to 5%, you can notice the difference at higher RPM's... i have had a sports system fitted to every zook i have owned, its a good mod, and i felt a difference on every Zook !
Extractors work well with a sports system...
The idea for a sports system, is to have as little restriction as possible, but to do this, it usually comes with noise... and having no noise, means adding restriction, which defeats the purpose... getting a hi-flo cat removes ALOT of restriction, i would aim for a medium noise muffler, that way you get a bit less restiction with a bit of noise...

The problem is that 2-5% is within the margin of error of a dyno and undetectable from the driver's seat. It is generally accepted that changes in HP of less than 10% can't reliably be felt from the driver's seat....

However, a loud car always feels faster than a quiet car.

I'm sure extractors help, but in all honesty, I don't think I'd be spending money on an F10. Extractors and a well built exhaust is probably going to cost 1/2 the conversion price to a G13.

Hi all, just put extractors and a 1 3/4 exhaust on my 96 coily.has 190k on the clock. revs a lot easier and has notocable power upgrade ,,not a lot ,but enough to make me smile.Getting between 8.5-9 litres per 100k,s .Kept the existing cat converter.. worth doing I think
