Trying to figure out what rear shocks to run in the GV. I have 40mm lifted coils and 35mm of coil spacer....soon to be more i hope.

I have 40mm lifted Dobinson shocks but they seem to short. I only get 100mm of drop with them. What have others used?

maximum compressed length is about 320mm +/- 10mm

Maybe repositioners for shocks?

I'm running camira sedan shocks with 35mm coils and 30mm spacers, no idea on open or closed lengths maybe Chop will know as his is the same setup

Yes im using some relocation brackets like you bought.

If i can use shocks that are longer with out the brackets then ill get more articulation.

Im interested in the camira shocks....... Know what the compressed length is?

Maximum compressed length i can use is 350mm without the brackets

Monroe publish a full catalogue which you can download for all their shocks which lists all the compressed and extended lengths in the technical specs section i think. Might take a little bit to dig through to find the correct shock with a pin on one end and an eye on the other which is the length you are after.

This is how i picked out shocks when i had my 2 door vit.

camira shock specs are on page 135.

You can look up particular cars and then go to the numerical listing further on which has them all sorta by part no. and gives the open and closed lengths as well as the type of mount it has

Ok ive found what i needed and have ordered some.

Now all i need to do is sell the dobinsons i just bought.........

Im gonna try some monroe 17-0166 (or 15-0166) they are rear shocks from a vb-vn crapadoor. There are so many different commodore shocks to choose from but after comparing the ext and comp lengths these look like they will work the best.

they are 338 compressed and 579 open. and at less than $150 new for a set bargain.

I was looking at the 17-3166 but they are a tad too long compressed but they are nice and long when open...(363mm - 633mm)

the other set that i found were to suit a Toyota Dyna. perfect size but im guessing they would be way to hard.

You might be surprised. A dyna has leaf springs FWIR and if so the valving in the shocks might be softer to account for leafs having inherent damping.
Only real way to tell is to try them or get the valve specs and compare (but I don't think they'll share those with you, no harm in asking tho)
