if its only got said 31s theres a pretty high chance its got a good amount of lift or massive chopping some how i doubt they would be 31stho, engine upgrade to a g16 will make it much better n some gearing (sierra transfer) will help push the bigger tires

A 315 is more like on a 16" rim.. Which would make it like a 34" tyre But on a 15" is like a 33" tyre. Me thinks you're full of it, or have misread something.

The first big problem with a G13bb jimny is that the motor has zero, low down torque and zero wheel travel. Motor: there are a few options in making this situation better, the most common is gearing, either 'trial Jimny' gears or a sierra Tcase swap. This doesn't make the motor anymore torquey, but get the motor working allot less harder to move the tyres around. So i can release my clutch in low and have the car start to roll without touching the accelerator. Aside from gearing is motor mods, like a G16 bottom end or a cam grind. A g16 bottom end will increase the motor output and make there more of a surplus of power when stabbing for it with your right foot meaning that the illusion of torque is there at lower revs. A cam grind (i've done this to a sierra motor and it made a huge difference, i don't know anyone thats done a jimny motor but i assume the motor would repsond the same) can change it dramaticaly, making the power curve pick up from 1500rpm and make peak power at 4000rpm, and drop performance by 5000rpm. For a race car this is a crap setup, but for a normal (not winch truck) 4WD it's a match made in heaven. Also jimny's have a different head compared to Vitara's we have a coil pack head and never have head cracking issues. So if you had a massive wallet, i'd go G16 bottom end and a cam grind for the ultimate jimny motor. But this will let you power over everything like a GQ with LS1, 38s and that mentality. You will quickly smash mounts, burn clutches, wreck diffs, not to meantion CV's So in the end the you will need gearing for the longevity of the car with 29" tyres. Flex: Remove one bolt from one trailing arm on each end JImny's are a road car with good roll stiffness and sweet as coils. There not a 5link patrol rear end, that'll flop like the best of them. So in short, i havn't actually seen a jimny that has decent wheel travel, if you put the 80mm TD lift in the compression makes it look like more travel, but the axles is still twisting just as much as it was before maybe a touch more, but nothing close to a sierra with a RUF and worn 50lift srings in the rear. So that means to over come lifting tyres, you can chuck in lockers, air, rachet, spool, weld, i guess it all depends on budget and how much you willing to sacrafice on road. everyone understand why jimny's are crap offroad now

Mega confused from all the bs yet? Just take it out and have some fun with it, these guys will have you spending money on stuff you don't even know what it does.
After wheeling it a bit you'll soon find out what you actually need.
