I had the 20% TJ gears...went well... BTW be prepared for drive line breakages once you got to 31s and a locker or 2...

I have pushd the firewall quaters back on both sides, and cut into the sills. Is being welded up now and shouldbe finished today. Still searching for a nice set of flares to suit, then will cut the guards as necessary.

think 24% would be too much IMO

vvts got 20% and if Im not wrong they still end up doing 4000rpms at 100Km/h (from the 3000-3200 factory)
non-vvts already do 4000rpms from factory... so adding even more reduction would be crazy for highway driving.... go for the sierra transfer case

BertZook, when you say VVT's got 20%, I assume you are referring to the Transfer Case High range. This is true but the gear box is also different, which compensates somewhat. I have done very similar... 32" tyres with an Auto VVT case in my manual Jim. It does just over 4,000 at 100k's so yes it is a bit high but bearable and is a reasonable tradeoff for the offroad benefit.

On Sierra cases, I can see no benefit in that because all Sierra cases are lower ratio in high... 1.409 and 1.580, so its actually worse. Add a gear set and it doesn't get any better.

I should think it would go ok. The gearing would still be better than stock. No powerhouse but able to crawl through a lot easier.

My last Jimny was an M13A, it had 24% reduction gears and 235/75R15s.
It ran really well in the bush and around town but highway driving was tedious.

Running 31s with 24% gears would be great all-round in my opinion.

I'd imagine a M13 would be better than a G13BA, and it's just fine with the carby ;)

I see your running 235s with 2" lift and 15mm spacers. Much scrubbing?

Cheers

yeah.. sorry bout my english skills

Im just saying that in order to do 100km/h:

VVT's do 3200rpms factory.... the only option its 20% reduction witch if I remember right from some builds with 31's they end up doing 4000rpms to get to 100km/h witch u can still do it

NON-VVTs do 4000rpms factory..... the only option is 24% reduction (so even lower).... so wht would be the end result?..5200rpms t do 100km/h???? I get annoyed when I do more than 4200rpms... I would go crazy with 5000.... plus bye bye fuel economy

and yes Im talking about Hi range... either way this trialjimnys kits affect hi and low at same %

Yep, my Jimny does the same at 100.

Bert, 3200 was my VVT Jimny with stock gears and 235s.

Also if you're wanting 31's and reduction gears on a Jimny.. Maybe it's less of a road car than you want it to be and you could maybe sit on 80-90 on the freeway?

I got 31's with a g13bb motor, at 100kph I sit on 4150rpm. i have the 24% reduction gears. I use mine as a daily and I like the setup. Whenever I go on the highway I only sit at 100kph it feels comfortable at that.
