i was talking to some today about my suspension on my 95 sierra i m running an efs 2 inch lift at the moment and the travel i get is not the best i have droped a leaf and i m still not as happy with the travel i get out of it i was going to get a biger lift kit but i think it will still be the same but i got to get a set of rear leaf and move them to the front for more travel.

Is this a good idea and if so what is needed to do it as i m sorta confused on how to do it cheers

Search RUF i think mate. should be heaps of how to's. Rear spring pack up front, i think u have to re drill your spring perch or something.

Try getting longer shocks as they might limit down travel and get bump stops spacers so you don't bottom them out

There are so many ways to do a RUF there all right and wrong so far the shit storms that have been started it's still gotten nowhere so far you need to exstend the chassis and move the rear spring hanger how far it's different for everyone do what suits your driving
And the longer shocks and bumps stomps is referred to still running lifted front springs not ruf

Daves4wd you just recommended longer shocks and bump stop extensions yet you have no idea what he is currently running or why he has restricted travel at the moment, you have no idea what size tyres he is running, for all you know his problem could be that he has extended bump stops.

Atari4x4 I wouldn't give him any advice till I asked him to clarify details of his current set up.

Dave4wd just wondering how many ruf have YOU actually done.

Please answer the following:

- What shocks are you running
- what length are they compressed and extended
- did you buy the springs new
- how many leaves front and rear
- how much travel do you currently have, up travel, down travel
- how are you measuring your travel
- why do you believe you have poor travel

Does your current setup allow the diffs to flex up and hit the bumpstops?

You need to cycle the suspension through its full range of motion to establish if you are:

a. flexing up to the bump stops

and

b. that the shockies are not the limiting factor in your down travel.

I would think that if you have a full set of EFS springs and matching shockies you should be getting pretty good flex. Do you have any pics of the car picking up wheels

A full set if i remember correctly is 4 leafs front and 5 leafs rear + a load. All 7mm thick. Rock solid ride and minimal flex with the full packs

that is right i have already dropped the leafs out to get the flex and make it a smoother ride

Yeah what I meant by a full set is all 4 springs, i.e. if you have EFS all round and you know they are EFS because you bought them new (they are not a mix of various leaves with an EFS sticker on one of the leaves) and you have a set of long travel EFS shocies to suit the springs.

Jrzook had a look at my rig last night. I have the 65mm full efs kit. He couldn't believed how solid it was. Compared to his. Mine was like a train to his boat! You could pull one corner down quite easily. He recommended atleast pull the one leaf above load leaf out of all the packs.

Last year he was on "P" plates asking what the inside of a diff looks like, SierraDan has come a long way in a short time, have a good look through his build thread, he has done it on a budget through trial and error, no better way to learn.
