hey everyone. im new to this site and also new to the world of suzuki. i recently bought my 1997 sierra surf and noticed an issue with the clutch.. heres whats happening. When pushing the pedal in it sticks about half way and gets hard to push and jolts. any ideas im over it. cheers

Checked the cable its free as. not sure about the actual clutch though....possibly buggered.?

from what I have seen they go all spongy and wierd when they are stuffed, but if the cable moves free then I guess you ave no choice but to pull the box out, probably the original clutch in it

yeh i was leaning towards that. if needed ill put an exede sports tuff clutch in it i think. pretty reasonable price and rep.??

Im pretty sure new standard clutch is around $220-280 dunno about the tuff one tho...

I need to get mine done very soon tho to..

i have come to the conclusion that Suzuki clutches and cables just suck.

I must admint all the daikins I have done and owned in sierras have been great, Vitaras are utterly shit but sierras seem pretty good

i have a cable on the way, when my car is going again i will be able to get
to a few car dumps to see what will fit. ball recons it is the way to go and
he seems to know stuff so i will give it a go.

Bellhousing pattern is going to be a fair bit different i'm guessing. I wonder if the master cylinder stuff can be swapped without too much hassle. Mind you, using 2 litre Vits as a donor isn't the best idea, they are pretty few and far between.

i think the hardest part of sticking a clutch master cyl on would be changing
the pedal from a pull to a push setup.
as it so happens i have a sierra firewall that still has the pedals and dash
attached so i am gunna drop it off a balls work and say, make good mate.

Mount the master cyl on the "inside" side of the firewall? Being up under the dash would be a major PITA obviously. But you could remote mount the reseviour in the engine bay so that it is at least easy to top up the fluid.

Another thing that comes to mind is finding a donor master and slave to give the correct throw too.

Grand Vits use a hydraulic clutch as well..But you probably knew that....

a van master under teh dash could work, fotting will suck

I have seen a few shitbox 4age conversions that used a hydro clutch and the master was mounted under the clutch cable mount so the pedal pushed it

long as you have the same diameter master and slave and the length from pedal pivot to master is the same as the cable was it should be sweet

I would make the ratio a bit shorter though for less pedal throw, but thats jsut me
