ok with me lifting my jimny to an 80mm lift, id love to put slightly wider wheels on to get more track on the ground,
so far i feel neg 13 sunny rims, but does that put more pressure on the CV joints,
curious on what most of you guys run

-13 is a good offset for Jimny.

But the CV's will suffer more from larger ( heavier) tyres and rims. The extra diameter of bigger tyres is what snaps CV's.

Offset will (marginally) reduce the life of your wheel bearings.

IMO, fit the wider rims and get back some much needed cross slope stability.

i was thinkjing to stick with 215 on maybe a 6 inch sunny rim with - 13 offset if i can get that..
well for the time being until i want 235's and gear reduction

215's shouldn't change much.

235's will put a bit more load on the CV's, but plenty of people here get by fine without breaking CV's all the time.

I know little tech about jimny's other than they have glass like front ends, but -13" on a 6" seems a lot. It's equivalent to -38mm on an 8".

I have +3mm offset on 15x6" rims with 215/75 KM2's with 50mm lift and nothing rubs on the inside and there are no wobbles at speed, I think I realy should have got some negative offset though...

where do people get those numbers from,

offset is from the Rim center, so -13 on a 6" rim is -13 on a 8" rim. as it is on a 7" rim also.

-13 is 13mm from the center of the rim further towards the inside. pushing the wheel out 13mm.

there for it is not equivalent to a 8" rim that is 38mm further out from the center of the rim...

unless you can magically say the center of a 6" rim is different to a center of a 8" rim

This is all true.

What I think he was getting at, is that the extra width of the rim, combined with the -13 offset, makes the outer edge equivilant to having a -38 offset 6" rim. This is ofcoarse a silly way to look at it, but it does make sense.

I do know how offset works, I was using it as an example of equivalent backspacing.

With severe brain fog this morning, I was attempting to say that a -13 6" rim, and -38 8" rim both equal ~3" of backspacing.

Now, what I was attempting to ask is if a jimny needs 3" of backspacing to run a 215 or 235 tyre?

As far as I am aware a -13mm 6" rim is not that common, as a result I was thinking that the op might be better off with a more common offset.

Hope this clears up what I was getting at.

Sunraysia is a type/ design of wheel. most manufacturers ( ROH, Dynamic, Speedy, Mullins etc ) refer to their steel wheels as 'Sunraysia' wheels for easy marketing.

I don't believe that 'Sunraysia' brand wheels have been made since the series 3 land rover.

Could be wrong though.
