I'm interested by this. I've heard this before, but it's contradicted by the conversion we did in the trolley tug - the Vitara VSS is working fine.
I'm sure that the Baleno doesn't see the "correct" vehicle speed, but the ECU isn't throwing a VSS error code, so I'm going to assume that so long as the ECU sees the car is "moving" It's enough to prevent an error code.
That's my take on it.
As far as I am aware, Doof, (another car in the club down here) runs a vitara VSS into a Jimny computer and manifolds on a G16 bottom end, The Jimny ECU was then patched to a Vitara AW-4 and it throws no codes and shifts fine on and off road. (I've driven it)
Please don't think that I'm disagreeing with you that the frequency is different - I have no doubt it is - only that the vitara VSS will "work" to prevent trouble codes, which is all I'm interested in it doing.
