Can someone please tell me the size/spec of the bolt that holds the Heim Joint to the bracket on the diff.

It's the Camini 3" lift fitted to my Vitara.

I must not post up what I want correctly, I sent a email to Calmini as well and got the wrong info.

I know the Heim Joint size, I need a bolt to attach it to the diff, bolt size and the shoulder length.

Will have to take a guess.

Measure the hole. Ill take a stab at 1/2"(12.7mm)

Will do can measure the Heim Joint hole and measure the length of the bolt under the Vit.

Heims are normally the same size bore as the thread, so if they are 3/4 thread I'd assume they need a 3/4" bolt

it's been a while since i had my junk apart but i'm sure the 2 spacers on the heim joint are stepped to locate in the hole & reduce the bolt hole size. hence the suggestion of removing it & taking it to a bolt shop.

If it has a misalignment spacer i would assume the 1/2.
But if they dont the i would agree royce.

That is one of the things I wanted to check.

The Vit is going in for some maintenance and I have to have all parts ready to go, I can't have the car taking up space at my mates workshop while I run around chasing parts.

But I might have to ask another mate if I can use his shed to take apart the car.

you have a 2nd car from memory?

you could do this in your driveway.... remove bolt, jam a screw driver in the hole to stop the diff moving around too much, take bolt to bolt shop & get a replacement, come home & refit original bolt.

post up the spces on the new bolt, take car, new bolt & all the bits you want to your mates work shop & get him to do his thing.

job done.

I thought I would have to have the chassis on work stands so I could move rear around.

Spare car is not a problem, will give it a go.

put a jack under the the diff to support it, just before the pinion. you might need to either lower or raise the jack slightly to take the load off the bolt.

i removed & replaced mine without taking the wheels off when it broke.

I have had to lift a car off my next door neighbour, because he didn't chock the wheels before removing the tail shaft.

Got another email from Calmini - 1/2" diameter x 3.5" long bolt.
