Ok I just bought a 84 sierra as a little runn around and it wasn't running he bloke said it was the fuel pump so have changes the fuel pump it has new plugs and stuff thermostat changed just about everything it was running a little befor I did it all but totally stoped so I replaced everything and it still won't run it seams like it's not sucking fuel um have pulled fuel hose off engin and cranked it to see if any fuel came out but none did so I pulled the fuel filter off (at the back of the car) and emptied the fuel out of the fuel filter and tried cranking it to see if the fuel filter would fill with fuel but it didn't what could be the problem ?

Have I put the fuel pump in wrong or is the fuel line blocked ????

Is there a surtin way to put the mechanical fuel pump in properly ?

Theres a small pin, that the fuel pump connects to the cam with,
its a common problem that it falls out during the install.

The fuel pump runs directly off the camshaft on the f10 and there isn't a pin like on the G series engines.

I would pull off and replace the rubber fuel lines, they perish and start to crack when they are old. if that fails might be worth dropping the tank to see if the pick up pipe has broken as that is common when they get old and rust away.

I know its a silly question but how much fuel is in the tank?

Put 600ml of fuel in a coke bottle and Sit it near your battery, then pull the fuel feed/return off the chassis and put them in the bottle. If it runs you have a problem further down! You can also take the fuel line off at the carbi, crank her and that will tell you if the pump is alive

There is 1/4 of a tank in it of fresh new fuel i dumped the old fuel out and tried to take the crap in the bottom with it

my 1 litre sometimes just does not run even tho i am getting fuel at the inlet of the carb, i pulled the fuel inlet off and gave it a quick jab of compressed air (but not too much!) and it seemed to work, try it out!

Blow the lines out with compressed air, you get a fair bit of crap out of them!

As an aside, my 1ls cam wore out where it operates the fuel pump, I haven't seen it on another one but that's not to say it wont happen to other engines.
