Hey guys I am currently In the process of installing 5.12 vitara front diff centres in into my sierra widetrack. Am I wrong in thinking that the whole alloy front centre will bolt straight up? As it appears that the crown wheel is touching on the diff housing just near the oil fill screw. If I am doing this wrong could someone please explain what has to be done to rectify. Any help would be great.

Ok, it's only temporary. Is it a big job to install Into original steel one? Any info on what is required would be great.

Check the factory service manual for instructions

You need the right tools
gear install kit from LROR helps, as you may need a selection of shims to choose from.
Gear paste to determine how the spacing is etc as you wont have the tool suzuki say to use.
So it'll be trial and error to set it up correctly...
Start with the shim, that came from the pinion originally in the sierra 3rd member.

It's a bit of a PITA for a temp solution, if you dont really need to do it, I wouldnt bother.

Doing two diffs for a temp solution isnt the best idea...

Thanks for the help. I need it for this weekend and I have both front and rear in pieces already, as I was under the impression it was a straight swap. I may as well persist. Think I have bitten off more than I can chew. I assume this can be done without a kit though? Another question for anyone happy to answer, can the complete diff centre, in the alloy housing be used, if I were to say give the diff housing on me sierra a little love tap to get it to fit.?

What state of pulled appartness are you in?
Considered giving up and not doing it?

Its possible, but probably will root the gears pretty fast.
You need crush tubes at the very least per side.
You could get lucky and not need shims... if you need shims and dont have them, you will probably root the gears.
You will need a dial indicator to set it up, and gear paste helps to ensure correct gear meshing, using the trial and error method.

I dont know to be honest.
If its touching the filler screw, is the 3rd member upside down?

Oh, you will also need to locate the centre pins.

Using either locking collars, peen them in, or tack weld them in.

Beautiful, cheers. Have considered pulling out on this one, but I only seem to learn the hard way. Will have a better idea if it was a mistake by tomorrow arvo.
