Ok so progress on timing chain replacement. made another video so thought id put it here. The mechanic was kind of a waste if time but hopefully fixing these chains and tensioners will sort it out and i can finally start to enjoy my little vitara! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIMzg0GV ... e=youtu.be

no worries i should have done some along the way but its pretty straight forward really. If you can get to this point i dont think you should be trying to do your own. But its there if it helps anyone.

A word of advice and this is speaking from experience. The cam chain tensioner has a one way valve and should not leak and keep the chain tight motor runing or not. Why do I know this because I put an after market kit in mine and it ran fine for about 15 min and then started to rattle again and it was a dud cam tensioner one way valve. So it was striped down again to replace it with a Suzuki one. You can test them by pumping oil in to it and you should not be able to push it back and it should not leak out the one way valve or any wear else for that mater..

There is NO one way valve in the tensioner to keep oil in - it is a purely mechanical "ratchet" type affair - I'm not doubting that you had a problem with a dud one, but it does not trap oil inside, oil drain back IS a problem, and that's why they rattle at start up before the oil pressure comes up.

I am talking about the one in the right hand cam bank tensioner number 2 although mine was a H20A it did have a one way valve as did the replacement from Suzuki. Poor service and the incorrect oil I would say.

The one on the right side has not got notches. It is one way valve/ constant pressure the other two are ratchet type. As for the tarnish I would say most look like this. I've seen inside 3 now and all the same. That said they have all been shit hahaha

Ok cool well they are in order. I looked at them and they have position markings on them so yes you need to keep them in order.

My H25a arrives on Monday. I've been told by the mechanic at suziauto to run h25 from rocker cover to sump and h20 everything else. Basically bolt the h20 intake onto the bare h25.
Is that what's worked best for everyone else? H20 injectors?

Yeah Atari is right BUT i will help you out. If you have a H20 and putting a h25 in, bolt everything from the h20 onto the h25 block and head. EVERY THING!!!! including the cam position sensor on the back of the left hand exhaust cam. EVERY THING!! even the water inlet to the block! Its easy. ull be fine.

Ok all done! Finally! this is just the first start after the timing chain is finished. It has a little bit of a miss but that could be the fact that the mechanic broke the connector on one of my coil packs.... And rather than replace it of offer a discount or anything they just said to me "oh you have a broken coil" which wasn't broken before i took it in to them... Well again i stick buy, If you want something done, Do it your self. If you want something done properly, Take your time and do it your self. Don't think I will ever take my cars to a mechanic ever again. (sorry if offend any mechanics) but the number of times they are either useless or a rip off or just plain don't want your business, Im over it. Any way rant over. I hope these videos have been helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du_nXwQ8elo
