ok, just to update everyone as we had this conversation going back a little while ago.

i put the question out there if 31"muddies would fit on a vitara with a 2" lift kit and nothing more.
i was given about a 50/50 response of yes and no, well,,,, i had a mate come to me a couple weeks
ago and ask if i wanted to buy some 31" maxxis bighorns for $150 for set of 4 with good tread on them
well i'd be stupid to say no, so i did, chucked them on my rims (im still after some sunraysias by the way)
and went for a drive, around town they fit fine after i re-manufactured the front inner guard.
THEN we desided to go for a nice little drive off road..... as soon as you flex abit more then a little your
lovely nobleys deside to get chewed up and spat out by the arches on the rear,,,,

the question is will 31" muddies fit on a Vitara with a 2" lift kit?

You will need to flatten the lip on the inside of the rear guards that is where the outer and inner guards are spot welded together. I am running 31 inch simex's and with this mod have very little rubbing.

bump stopping is your friend and use longer shocks to get the same flex just with less up travel and more down travel iv seen jeeps running 37"s on a 2" lift it can be done f you plan it out carefully

ok, need a replacement 31" 10.5 r15 maxxis bighorn or cheap set of something else muddy now, i popped the sidewall of one today, was a real drama, i'll tell the story in a new chat shortly, oops

Yeah, IFS is a little more complicated than just chucking in longer shocks...

this is true in the front these things have next to no suspension (nor will they ever) however u can gain the suspension travel in the rear again

Strut spacers add travel, if you don't already have them or longer struts they are worth the investment.

how does a strut spacer add travel? the strut still has the same amount of stroke with or with out a strut spacer, they just reposition where that travel sits to get more droop.

Because in the stock configuration the wishbone hits the bump stop with around 2" of travel still left on the strut. Drop the top mount down and you get 2" more droop but the same amount of compression, its just that the shock is now fully compressed when it hits the bump stop.
