On the last couple glassy runs I've had really high temps/overheated. Not sure what could have caused it because it didn't use to. Even on the highway home I had to pull over a couple times and let it cool down...

Was thinking that my radiator could be on it's way?

Thinking of putting a 3 core radiator into the GV if I can find one that will fit and also put the AC fan onto a switch so I can turn it on when I'm 4wding.

From memory I have seen lots of pictures of your GV FULL of mud and crap. One would guess its blocked.

I rigged my AC fan to a switch.
But haven't needed to use it since replacing my radiator.
Blocked up fins is possible if you mud it.
Don't use high pressure to clean radiator fins, they can get bent flat.
Use normal hose to clean it. Easier to clean if removed.

I carry a weed sprayer hand pump full of water, very handy for when mud gets into radiator.
But I avoid deep mud when possible.

Clutch fan could be on its last legs, too.
Apart from all the normal things to check.

GV overheating at highway speeds is not going to be fan related - the forward motion of the vehicle provides enough airflow - check for a possible blocked radiator (both air flow and water flow)

Pulled the radiator out and gave it a good clean. Bit of mud stuck in behind where the A/C is. Also found a nut in the radiator LOL!

Probably gonna get a new radiator, found this 'heavy duty' one on eBay for $120. It's about 8cm wider than standard and it's guaranteed to fit the GV..

I am only guessing standard.
Appeared to be exactly same thickness.

The core is wider, if you look at stock ones they look really square compared to that.

Just measured the spare one hanging up in the shed and its the same dimensions.

Maybe they used some slightly smaller one at some point.

Looks like you have a Vit one rather than a GV one.
Should be much better with a bigger one.
Hopefully brackometry fits up easily.

Yeah the smaller one says for JLX and the GV. I'm hoping it just fits up or at least with not a lot of work..

Tampered with how? :/ Had the car since like 2004. I have the log book down stairs somewhere. Never bothered to get it filled out since I got my hands on it

The radiator in the GV is looking a bit sad. A lot of the fins in it are bent or starting to rot. So the XL7 wreck I bought had one in it so i kept it as a spare for when mine finally lets go.

Yeah mine looks sad too... Has a couple nice gouges on the other side I think I will get into the regular cleaning of the radiator after big runs. So much shit gets stuck in the fins and you can't get it out without taking it out.

I modified my shroud, making the top half easily removable, so I can clean rad more betterer.

Just been out and had a look at My GV. (99 manual V6)

It would seem that in the first series of GV (98-00) the Radiators are smaller.... only 540mm wide

The Series 2, and above get the larger Radiator. This may be to compensate for the increase in power.

Not sure if the A/c Condensor is larger as well.

grab the radiator supports from a wide radiator model, then it may be an easy upgrade

I think the hardest thing is going to be the mounts for the A/C condenser. It sits in front of the rad and is bolted to the same supports.
