What he meant is that you need a transfer case out of a leafy sierra, as they are gear driven rather than chain driven.
The gear driven ones you can actually put reduction gears in, and aren't they a bit tougher?
Things you might want to specify (apart from tyre size) are the terrain you drive, what engine you are running and how much highway your car sees (not much of a factor I guess as the closer to 4000 RPM you are the happier they are.
For example:
I run 30 inch tyres, I drive a combination of rock (not hardcore) and mud. I am running a g13a, and crave lower gearing for control on the rocks.
