I've found clicky cvs are harder to break than quiet ones, I don't know why.
I would just order a new outer cv joint ($50 ebay) and keep it on the shelf to you break the clicky one.
Ahh, okay yeah, never thought of just buying the joint, ill probably replace ALL joints just to be safe. Although, one thing I should mention, I was never able to pull the outer CV joint off, I couldn't find any circlips any where and I wasn't game to hammer it off. How do I get the outer joint off?
Also, why would they start making the noise after cleaning? I really don't understand.
Edit: I forgot to mention, both the inner and outer boots were stuffed. For the inner joint I took everything apart and cleaned them out, but for the OUTER joint, since I couldn't get it a part, I just wiped excess grease off and then packed new grease in. Although the out joint didn't have any water of rocks in it, so I felt safe doing this.
