hey guys

i have allot of 12v accessories and am looking to neaten up my fire hazzard...

whats the best way to keep wiring neat?

i used bus bar style power rails with screws tapped into them. did a positive and negative rail inside the cab. going to put a plastic cover over the positive eventually but at the moment its just live.
got them from a boat shop.
have a 100A fuse feeding them through a fat cable through the firewall. run a 400w amp, compressor, electronic break controller, and may one day run a fridge off it.

Depending on who has had your car there may be old wiring from lights ect you could cut away

Awesome idea, just one Power in and power out to everything and they are fused as well, i put one in the Jimny for UHF and my lightbar.

Take some photos and outline what you want to do.
Generally messy wiring is also not very efficient and hiding it doesnt help.

i started with sorting out a neatish mounting bracket for all my bits, then ran all the wires i needed and cut to length
then rip it all out and turned it into one big loom, taped, tubes soldered and then refitted
i tried to follow factory wiring were posible and tucked it under things when possible too

mine isnt the best job, but i think its far from the worst..

what kind of which controll box is that under the bonnet? in the engine bay?
seams lika a much better place to put one then where mine is I.E. full of water every time i go to use it

if you are talking about aftermarket wiring, I ran a huge cable from the AUX BATT to a separate fusebox inside the cab up the passenger side firewall. I then made a board with solenoids (push on style for easy replacement) and even small sub fuse boxes for ON, ACC, LIGHTS. Then you can crimp on the connectors and plug them where they are supposed to go. Simple and easy to understand when you need to comeback later to troubleshoot or add something new.

I only bother to shrink wrap joins,l the rest is tape, tape and more tape. Wide duct tape is great for less turns.

The fuse box out of early vitaras are great for an accessory setup as they use the big squarish blade fuses that go up to 80odd amps. So you can run basically any accessory off them. I used one in my zook for running stuff like my big compressor and rear mounted thermo fans. Got it from a wrecker with a bunch of good battery cable and a handful of assorted fuses from a few vehicles for around 10 bucks. It has about five ports from memory.

it'll allow you to remove everything off your battery to a better location like the passenger wheel arch or like above, inside the passenger firewall behind the dash.
