Is it wrong for me to put the old standard front springs in the rear? Because the rear springs I got are more like 80mm lift and it looked odd and was to ridged.

Its made the ride smother and the height pretty close to the front. Is this something people do often?

Yeah it's been done before... I can't see any downside if it's sitting level... Measure from bottom of the rim to bottom of guard and check the difference in the front to back. If be interest to see how it sits. (Has to be level ground of course)

Also, are you sure the rear springs you were talking about... Are you sure they were for the rear? Fronts are a little longer ....

Yeh I'm pretty sure I have them the right way... these are the measurements I got so far (from top of the rim to guard)

stock.
F/L 195mm F/R 195mm
R/L 192mm R/R 192mm

Put the springs and shocks in the first time. got it all sorts of wrong

I swiftly fixed that... now my rear left hand spring was the long one. I then had

Tough dog all around:
F/L 255mm F/R 255mm
R/L 270mm R/R 275mm

Now with stock front in the rear it is:
F/L 250mm F/R 255
R/L 255mm R/R 245 (But Ill need to let it settle tomorow)

Yeh, well I Had a google search before I did it and it said I needed the long spring in the front.. but it must be diffrent with a winch bar

I had stock front springs in the rear of my old Jimny. They were all well and good until it was loaded up with camping gear where it handled liked Shit due to the soft spring rate, but that was a once in a blue moon id go camping. I ran 80mm springs in the front with 30mm spacers and it sat pretty close to level.

Ok, So they settled in and sat at
F/L 265 F/R 255
R/L 255 R/R 245
So I simply put a 8mm hub spacer between the rubber boot and cradle. (was all I had) bit dodgy haha.

But it all sits nice and level pretty much 255mm all around.

I would have thought the fronts would have handled a little more weight due to the weight of the motor etc up front... Although I spose they aren't a lifted spring either.

Yeh I was surprised it was as smooth as it was with the front sprngs in the rear... but a steal bar would be smoother then the Tough Dog "springs".

Hi Grommet,

Do you still have your stock springs in the rear? How's the handling, as I'm considering doing the same. Based on what Monley says it wasn't so good when loaded up?
