It would appear I do not have the key for this spare wheel lock. I have no idea how these work or what they look like underneath, what's they best way to butcher it off? Cut along the length or can you bust the lock out with a screwdriver and a hammer?

I'd bust the lock and go from there but maybe try some vice grips or one of those chain clamping tools to remove it.

A locksmith could get it off or even make a key for it. Depending on what you want to spend.

Could try a screwdriver or small cold chisel to hammer it in and twist with a small spanner or vice grips
Could try using a cold chisel on an other edge.

Can you hammer a socket onto it?

Smack it with a hammer until the outer case comes off then force a socket over the bit left and undo it with a ratchet.
Should take about 20 seconds.

They are a pretty simple design if its the same as the one as on the GVs. You don't need to turn the key or anything, just simply insert it and then pull it straight off. I thought I had the wrong key on mine at first as I kept trying to turn it.

Try a few different keys and if you still have no luck blade screwdriver & hammer.

i watched a tyre fitter put a snap-on socket over a lock nut once and go to town on it with a hammer until it formed its own hex head onto the nut... he then used a rattle gun and took it off... when he looked at the expression on my face he said "well, if i break it they'll replace it so why not" LOL

Took all of about 30seconds too...

There are some peeps with locking wheelnuts who think tyre shops have a "master key" so they leave their lock key at home so they dont lose it.

I've bashed an impact socket on many times to get the lockies off.

The ones picced above, I always try a cable tie first (after I try the Key!) Works on about 1/2 of them.
