Hey any and all. I would like to lift my jimny 40-50mm and switch the stock tyres to 215/75/15 m/t however there is a tyre sale that ends prior to me getting my lift installed (hankook m/t for 180 fit and balanced) . Can I run these slightly bigger tyres as a daily driver for a week or two prior to lifting or will there be excessive rub? I have an older model arb bar on front, nothing really in back. Apologies if it's been asked and answered before. Also, same old contemplation of ome/dobinson /ironman/any other for the lift if anyone feels like adding their two bob...again.. Thanks, ak.

Suspension lift doesnt fit tyres.
Body lift, guard chop, and bumpstop spacing preferably coupled with a suspension lift does fit tyres

My uncle's jimny ran 215/75r15 KM2's with no lift. It rubbed at the front of the back arches on compression - nothing drastic but enough to leave cuts on the tyres. It's been years now and my cousin is driving that same jimny with those same tyres and no issues now they have self clearanced =)

To expand on the above explanation a bit, a suspension lift will only increase the vertical distance a tyre can travel in the wheel well. A larger tyre still has to clear the rear and front edge of the wheel well. Additionally, your turning radius may decrease slightly because the larger tyres may start to rub on the frame.

Bottom line: You have a bad case of the "I wanna"s.

Think this through. Do some research. Call/email lift vendors, ask questions and find solutions. There will always be another tyre sale.

Oh, and I bet someone will post a few more tips and comments here that will help you!

215s will fit on a Jimny with no Suspension lift. Its only one size up.

Yes I also confirm the 215/75/15 m/t will fit but on the Jimny but some do experience the rubbing on the rear of the front wheel arches. You can do some trimming in this area to fix it IF you experience that when on full spring compression. Once my front tyres wore down by about a mm or so the problem went away for me. It may also depend upon the brand of tyre.
