Hey Guys,

Long story short, I need to pull the woodruff key from my m13 to replace the m18 one. I can't seem to figure anyway of removing it, other than removing the crankshaft... Surely this can't be right can it?

No amount of searching helps. The g series motors are accessible once you take the timing gear off, but m series are chain driven and the only thing that covers the key is the crank pulley. I've tried grabbing it with pliers etc but no luck.

It's also only a $3 part, but I was hoping to use the 1.3 as a learning experience for when I get to the 1.8

Any help would be appreciated

It should just knock loose with a small hammer or something

There's no real space to get a hammer in there

You should be able to tap it with a punch enough to have it lift out of its spot enough to pull it out, they generally aren't that tight

Screwdriver on the end of it and a light tap with a hammer. Try and lift the end. Could try some WD-40 or similar

Thats the bottom timing chain gear. you aren't getting the key out without pulling all the chain and that gear off first

Does that keyway go right through? Two pulleys on one?
