Hey everyone

i have recently purchased a 2000 GV auto 4dr.

took the new zook out camping on the weekend went really well!! just needs some basic improvements.


one of my main killers was clearance since the car is standard.
I was thinking of a EFS shock/spring lift kit but still want a decide ride and it to handle light camping loads well.
I was also thinking a body lift aswell to allow for some slightly larger rubber to pick the clearance up that little bit more.

I'm really after some brand advice for suspension and opinions/facts on the body lift?
Also i am an ex jeep nut know heaps about TJ's not soo much about zooks but im sure heaps of it carry's over.
So any tips/advice/facts are welcome about this car?!?

Also has anyone managed to install a dual battery system under bonnet on a 4dr GV?

How large do you want/need to go on the rubber?

The OE tire size is either 215/65R16 or 235/60R16 (essentially a 27 inch tire), I'm running 225/70R16 (roughly 28.4 inch) on the OE 16x7 Enkei alloys with OME springs, shocks & struts (about a 30mm lift) - no body lift, no rubbing, although it does come very close to the plastic inner guards in the front, I suspect a 225/75R16 will rub, that would be easily resolved.

Dual battery systems are possible - you may need to relocate the screen washer reservoir, later models have it in the guard, if your's doesn't, you can pick that up in a scrap yard and retro fit it to make room - as before, check the "rigs of Auszookers" section of the forums, see what the other GV owners have done.

im thinking of heading towards a 28 or even better a 29 dont want to set the fuel economy to complete shit. Although it sems like it has the power to push them.
yeh id love OME but i just dont wanna spend that much $$ on a 30mm , if i was going to spend that much id think about the calmini 3"
The EFS kit comes in at 700-800 so its budget conscious and i have heard mostly good things about them.

Have a look at Jimnybits.co.uk, they have good coils. I run their 3" coils and love em. I would probably recommend the same for your build instead of going body lift path. That will see you running up to 31s with a bit of bashing guards etc. Anything over that I'd go bodylift.
Holden Commodore or Camira rear shocks and swap out the bush or just the eye to suit. I just drilled mine out.
Few brand on the market to choose from, if I was to get another set I'd personally go OME.
Definitely get a set of Camber Bolts if you don't have some already, and also some diff drop brackets. Both can be bought from Jimnybits

That should give you a rough gauge of what your GV should look like with different size lifts etc.

thank you klutched I was just looking at jimnybits 3" kit it looks impressive! what does it drive on road like?
also was the freight quite expensive?? cause those kits seem sooo cheap killing anything on the Aussie market!!

Dank is the EFS man. Brillant bloke with great prices.

If you want a bullbar and winch I am just removing my JML winchbar with 9000lbs Bushranger winch (about $2500 cost) and looking to recover about $1500 for the two.

I am also removing the dual battery setup out of my 2000 GV so I have a 110amp/hr deep cycle batter and Optima Redtop Battery along with Redarc isolator maybe avalible. Dank supplied me with the batteries and eBay supplied the isolator.

If you want pics on the setup I can get it when the rain stops.

Where are you located as I'm in Cockatoo in Vic and freight might be expensive if your not semi local.

edit: I might also have the 5:12 diff centers and 225/75R16 Cooper ST Maxx tyres going as well (no rims) I will need to check if B4T has the original diff centers still in his shed and how much time I have to strip this shit off my GV before it sells.

It's nice and soft, especially compared to the dobinson kit installed in the soup kitchen. As for shipping, if you buy a few things it will be well worth it. I bought the coils and a snorkel at the same time think I paid $700 and something AUD.
