firstly.... handbrake is not attatched.....

i thought i would put up a few pics of the head light chopping i did.

my aim was to make some clearance behind the headlight bucket itself for tyre clearance

to do this i thought the best way would be to shift the light towards the centre.

i used a mouse pad as a template.... ( had one handy and it fit well)

cut the hole so the head light was offset, as there would be no point in having it centred....

to cut the hole i used a 1mm thick cutting blade on a 5" grinder.


this will be tacked back in for further measuring and cutting

ahhhhh... ye of little faith.....

a simple gap to fill....

the trick is to back it up with a piece of aluminium, weld it up section at a time, there will be little distortion as there is so many folds around it creating strength!

did some work on the chassis to make way for the new steering box on the weekend. and in the process of making up the plate to strengthen the chassis ext and mount a winch off.

its the same arm that is sitting underneath it, simply flipped and bolted down.

i dont have access to a mill to machine the two mating surfaces flat as joe does, so i used spacers made from 20mm round bar. just so happened to have some stainless bars machined up with a pilot hole lying around...

drilled them out to suit and away we go.

drag link is the bar that joins the two front wheels/swivel hubs togeather to keep them pointing in the same direction.
body lift will be fine with hilux diffs. you will need if for 35's. i have 34's at the moment with body lift and have spaced the front diff forwards 27mm and it still rubbs in the guards on full lock.
i dont think you will need extended shackles with SPOA but if you can i would suggest doing a 3/4 elptical in the rear. cheap and works a treat.

35mm body lift bolted in already. diff is forward 200 mm with huge offset and plenty of guard cutting, have not flexed it up as yet, so im nto sure where/ how much it will rub.

wont be using extended shackles.

i plan on extending out the rear chassis to use the same springs as the front and move the diff back 160mm.

next on the list is to fold up the plate for the front of the chassis so i can bolt up the steering box and mount the darren hinch.
