Interested to see why this drop pitman arm wont fit AJSR, was thinking very seriously of getting one myself.

Appsie, I've finished the steering damper mounts, I'll get some photos up later today. It has eradicated the wobbles on one of my tyre sets, almost eradicated it on another, but done SFA for my alloys  . So I think its worked somewhat, its just my wheels dont work  .

Appologies for my sluggishness with getting these on the net:

Basically the standard chassis end mount for the damper. The pitman arm end is a piece of steel that clamps around the pitman arm, and is a snug fit between the lump on the Vit arm and the colar on the foward end of the pitman arm.
Not sure its going to be permanant on my car, still need to sort it out properly.

I don't know fir sure whether the drop arm will bolt on a car with the front diff in the stock location, but I reckon it would have to be very close if it fits.

Basically, the arm is 17mm longer centre-centre than the stock vitara arm. The car we've fitted one to is RUF, with the steering box a full 40mm further forward than stock. It also has just over 2" of bumpstop spacing. We had to rotate the steering box more than we normally would when fitting a vitara box to get the arms to clear. The bottom bolt on the Vit box needs to be really close to the bottom of the chassis to get enough rotation.

Of course if you were building from scratch you could space the box forward enough to make it work, but as it is the drop arm isn't, AFAIK, a bolt in solution unless you are SPOA (and a tall, bumpstopped SPOA at that)

OK, thanks.
Considering my axle is about 17mm foward of stock, I would likely run into issues with that. Might have to do some lateral thinking, or chase up that Tarago arm Damo mentioned.

thanks for the pics aaron gives a few ideas for the time being.

Steve,as always your full of knowledge  thanks for the help. The torago arm does seem like a good option and shouldnt be too hard to find id think.

If not jimny arm??same spline i believe a little less drop than stock sierra and just shorter centre to centre so would affect the steering a little but is still a option?

Just remember you will need to do something about the taper in the end, a stock Sierra TRE wont just bolt in there.

Here's some pics of mine with half RUF and a calmini dropped pitman arm. I think they run a 2 inch drop As I mentioned earlier I had to clock the box to suit after it wouldn't clear the tie rod. As you can see the drag link and tie rod are practically in the same plane so no bumpsteer.
