So the time has definitely come for me to replace the bushes in my control arms. I noticed last time I was at Glasshouse Mtns that I suddenly had rear steering... Not good.

I was going to wait until I could get a hydraulic press on sale but now I'm desperate. The back end is all over the place and I have a week to get it sorted.

Does anybody have any tricks for removing them without a press?

Also, where can I get non-genuine RUBBER bushes for a reasonable price?

Are Coily bushes definitely the same?

You can cut them out. I used a jigsaw to remove mine a while back. Cut the inner tube, then slowly work out if that makes sense.

I needed to use a 30 tonne press and a oxy to get mine out!

Press should of done the job, if thay don't move, leave around 5t on em & spray with WD40 or similer, then let em sit for a bit, oxy's not good for cast arm's.

Every morning when I look in the mirror.

had a guy get his xe towed in, he said it won't drive, must be the auto he thinks.
went out to look, see a drive shaft in the back of the wagon with a smashed up rear uni, asked where he got that, said he found it on the road when he broke down, asked if i wanted to buy it.
I said he may need it.

I made my bushes today. Will be making a few mods to them but for now just concentrated on getting the Jimny rolling again.

This pic shows the donor bush on the left, cut close length in the middle and finished, ground down and narrowed.

Took about two and a half hours each side. I left the metal sleeve of the old bush in place for a bit of extra strength and just cleaned the rubber from the surface.

After having a good look at the factory bushes I can't help but think they are definitely a contributing factor in the wobble. Two small rubber spokes holding it all together. They were definitely designed with axle articulation in mind though.

Including burning out my drill with the wire brush total cost is $180.

The new bush we replace is solid, but that goes in the leading arm.
The king pin shim has made the bigest diffrence that i can see, notice a tighter drive right away.

Yeah shims made a big difference to mine. I'm pretty certain that the primary cause of the wobble is side-to-side movement due to a lack of lateral ridgidity in the control arm and panhard bushes.

Then again I've had a few theories along the way. One thing for sure is that there is combination of factors that should all be rectified for a permanent fix.

Yes, rear bush on the leading arm, I told Suzuki that I think thay make no diffrence to the wobble, I fitted them then drove it, then fitted the shim's.
On the next one I fitted shim's first. shim's made a very noticable diffrence.

The new bush for the front arm is very stiff.

I tink the chassis side's of them are the same, will have a look at part no's on tuesday.
